Laser teeth whitening is an amazing technology that removes stains and whitens your teeth in a flash.  Unlike other whitening methods and products that will take a considerable amount of time before any signification result can be seen, laser procedure can whiten your teeth within an hour.  It goes without saying that this procedure will cost you a few hundred dollars, but you usually only have to undergo it one time, provided you take good care of your choppers.

A Laser teeth whitening procedure begins by cleaning your teeth.  All traces of plaque, especially along the gum line, will be removed first before the whitening gel can be applied.  The gel’s active ingredient is peroxide which allows for maximum teeth whitening.   The laser is then used on the gel to activate its whitening properties.  This process takes place for about an hour.

Unlike bleaching, laser whitening is applicable for individuals with sensitive teeth.  Both the whitening gel and the laser pose no harm to the gums.  Because you only have to go through with the procedure once, you don’t have to repeatedly apply bleaching gel to your teeth to maintain that bright smile.  Typically, the price for this procedure range from $400 to $900 depending on the dentist.  It might be a little steep for some, but you can’t argue with the results.

Consumer Reports Teeth Whitening Products

September 8, 2010 | Comments Off

When buying things, I’ve never been one to trust reviews and consumer reports. Teeth whitening products and procedures aren’t any different in this matter. I think it’s better to ask the experts when it comes to our dental care. They’re the experts in this subject and can provide a more in depth comment than the latter. People’s needs differ from one another and only a trained professional can tell you what exactly it is you need. Your teeth may be more sensitive to certain chemicals than others do and it really helps to consult your dentist rather than rely on other people.

Consumer reports, teeth whitening product instructions, ingredients and reviews can all help us understand these goods, but we should not base a purchase solely on these things. We must pay close attention to our unique needs and we must not be so easy in trusting a product just because our friends recommended them. Remember that you are the one who’s going to suffer if later on you realize that what you bought has certain ingredients and chemicals which are not compatible with your sensitive teeth. In these matters, it’s really good to seek the help of a trained professional instead of going with product reviews and the like.

Teeth Whiteners – What They Can Do for You

September 7, 2010 | Comments Off

We all experience disappointments in life. These disappointments often lead to depression. If you talk to experts, one of the things that they would suggest is turn your attention to happy thoughts. They would also tell you to try to smile often as smiling will perk your spirit up. I find these suggestions effective because they make you really feel good.

Unfortunately, if for some, smiling is the ‘cure’ for their depression, for others it is the source of theirs. I’m talking here of people who have yellowish or stained teeth. Many people with such set of teeth become insecure and develop low self-esteem. You could almost understand them because you wouldn’t want to smile when you do not have pearly whites, right? But it is hard for me to fully empathize with them because stained teeth shouldn’t be a big problem since there are many teeth whiteners to cure them.

One easily obtainable whitener is whitening toothpaste. It is available in almost all grocery stores and pharmacies. You will not find using it as an added burden because you brush your teeth everyday anyway so you just have to substitute whitening toothpaste to your regular one.

If you want faster results you can also seek professional help. Dentists use whitening chemicals of high concentration so you will see results in no time.

These are just two of the things that you can do to have whiter teeth. You can consult your dentist to help you choose from among the many teeth whiteners out there.

The Best Teeth Whitening Products of Today

September 6, 2010 | Comments Off

Growing up, I’ve developed quite a liking for people with nice smiles. However, because I wasn’t such an obedient daughter, I didn’t really pay much attention to my dental health. Because of this, my teeth are not as white as I’d like them to be and it’s not something to smile about. So I’ve decided to get my teeth whitened. The only problem is there are just so many options and methods to pick from. How do I know which ones actually work and which don’t? How do I know which are the best teeth whitening products?

The internet is a good place to visit when one has these questions, but the best place to go to, in my opinion, would be your dentist’s office. Dentists are trained professionals and really know what they’re talking about when it comes to these things. My dentist told me that I should consider getting laser treatments from her or buying myself either a custom whitening tray or a whitening pen. She said that these two are the best teeth whitening products in the market today as both are not too expensive and both also show quicker signs of whitening. I just have to pick the one that would suit me better.

How to Use Peroxide to Whiten Teeth

September 6, 2010 | Comments Off

One of the most used household materials to whiten teeth is peroxide, particularly hydrogen peroxide.   It has a weak acidity and acts as an excellent bleaching agent and removes stains especially when used for teeth.  It is not uncommon to find hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide in dental hygiene products; it is often included in toothpastes and mouthwashes.  Peroxide teeth whitening is considered safe by the American Dental Association but it doesn’t come without risks.  If use improperly it can severely damage your tongue and gums; although not volatile, it is still an acid.  It goes without saying that a peroxide mixture should not be ingested.

You can also make your own peroxide teeth whitening product but you have to exercise caution.  To make a homemade peroxide-based whitening paste, you need to mix baking soda to hydrogen peroxide.  Don’t use too much peroxide, just a few drops until the baking soda turns pasty.  If you like, you can add mint or fruits that help whiten your teeth like strawberry or the white part of an orange peel.  Usually, people add salt to help exfoliate.   For best results, rinse your mouth with a solution with 1.5% – 3% hydrogen peroxide after brushing your teeth.
